How to Care for Your Jewelry

To care for your jewelry, the following recommendations should be taken into consideration:

  • Avoid spraying perfume/cologne on your jewelry
  • Wait 10-15 mins after using lotions to put your jewelry
  • It is not recommended to wear your jewelry when working out, swimming or bathing. If your jewelry gets wet with corrosive materials (salt water, chlorine) immediately wash your jewelry with warm/hot water, a soft tooth brush and mild soap. Dry with a microfiber cloth.
  • Do not clean with chemicals when wearing your jewelry.
  • Do not sleep in your jewelry.
  • Leave it in the case when not being worn.

Keep It Clean.

Most jewelers will clean your jewelry free of charge, so take advantage of this courtesy. If you don't have time to get to the jewelry store, there are a few ways to clean your jewelry at home.

AMO suggests using a gentle dish detergent to clean lotion buildup from the bottom of the mounting. Simply scrub the top and bottom with a soft toothbrush and rinse several times in hot water. For extra shine, soak your jewelry in a small bowl of ammonia diluted with three times the amount of waterspecial for 925 sliver jewelry, and gently brush the top and bottom of the mounting with a soft toothbrush. Dip the ring into the solution again, then rinse in warm water several times to be sure to get all of the solution off. You may set the jewelry on a soft towel to dry, or gently pat it dry.

NOTE: IF YOU DO THIS OVER AN OPEN DRAIN, USE A STRAINER!
